12 Best And Easy Homemade Facials

Perfect skin doesn’t need frequent visits to the salon. It does not need all the complex creams and scrubs with ingredients you can barely pronounce and, most importantly, it does not require meticulous effort and excessive splurging. The most effective ingredients are the ones stocked up on your kitchen shelves. And the best facials are the ones made using these kitchen essentials.

From orange peels to citric acids to potato slices, nothing should be trashed as they can be the ingredients for your next face mask. Skin is a very sensitive organ and has to be taken care of very well. A homemade facial might not be very pampering but if you’re serious about skincare, then you’d appreciate the fact that such facials eliminate the chances of any adverse reactions on the skin because of the natural ingredients they contain.

They are also a fun activity to indulge in and who knows, your facial cleansers and masks might even turn out to be a great recipe to lick on! Below are some tips and great recipes for a homemade facial.

How To Do A Facial At Home

There are a few basic steps you should follow to go about the facial effectively.

Cleansing

Clean the face with warm water and pat it dry. Apply a cleaning solution with a cotton ball and clean the neck and the regions behind the ears. Splash water and pat dry again to complete the cleansing process. You can use homemade cleansers like:

Milk Cleanser

You will need:

  • 1 tsp Powdered Milk
  • 1 tsp Water

Method:

  • Gently massage into skin for 2 minutes and wash.

Oatmeal Cleanser

You will need:

  • ½ cup oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp yogurt

Method:

  • Mix the ingredients to form a paste.
  • Smooth over the entire face and rinse with cold water after 5 minutes.

Exfoliation

Expose your face and neck to steam in order to open the pores. Do not hold the steamer too close to the skin as this can damage the skin. Once the pores are open, massage with an exfoliating scrub to remove the whiteheads, blackheads, dead skin, and other dirt. Too much scrubbing can damage the skin so be gentle. After around 15-20 minutes of scrubbing, wash and clean your face with cold water in order to close the pores. Some easy to make exfoliating scrub recipes are:

Almond Honey Scrub

You will need:

  • 2 tbsp. Crushed Almonds
  • 1 tbsp. Honey

Method:

  • Mix the almonds and honey.
  • Smooth on the face and rub it in well.
  • Rinse with cold water

Brown Sugar Scrub

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Sweet Almond Oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tbsp Ground Oatmeal
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg
  • Large pinch Calendula Petals

Method:

  • Place all the ingredients in a tight jar and shake well to mix everything. Use it as a scrub.

Moisturizing

Apply a good moisturizer that suits the skin type. Homemade moisturizers like yogurt, cream, or fresh fruits are good options. Massage the moisturizer for at least 15 to 20 minutes and then wash off with cool water.

Face Mask

Once you have reached this stage, apply a homemade facial mask on your face and neck using a brush. Leave it on until the face mask has dried completely. Cover your eyes with some cooling slices of cucumber or, if you have puffy eyes, potatoes. You can also use cotton swabs dipped in chamomile tea, for an extremely soothing effect. Different kinds of skin need different facial masks.

Tanned and spotty skin needs masks with bleaching agents like lemon juice while dry skin needs something more moisturizing and oily skin requires some drying agents. Below are some recipes for face masks; keeping in mind your skin type, prepare the right one.
